I have these pet peeves, you know? Not enough to even write a whole page about. Just things that make me go argh!

Pet Peeve - This "sisters" thing

I don't know where this started, maybe it's an IRC thing or Gor thing, but i do not understand why being a submissive makes me a "sister" to all other submissives. It's not like we have fought a gallant stuggle together or are a precious, unique few among the many. From what i have seen online and in mail lists, there are lots of female submissives and we are all as different as any group of people will be. We are tall, short, thin, fat, old, young, dark, light. Further, to me, it is dehumanizing and denies my own individuality and strengths and weaknesses, in assuming that the "sisterhood of submissiveness" is enough to liken me to others of my kind. Sorry ladies and gents, but when i choose to call another woman sister, it will be of my own choosing and someone with whom i have shared more than lower-case letters.

Pet Peeve - W/writing L/like T/this

Hard to read, it must be even harder to write like this all the time. But...since when does a capital letter make a Dominant? Respect? Courtesy is expected....respect is earned and no less by Dominants than submissives. Judging a man by a capital letter is like judging a woman by breast size. And in case you wondered, i'm just lazy and my fingers are short enough to make reaching the Shift keys a bit of a pain.

Pet Peeve - AVS

AVS stands for Adult Verification Service. Those are those annoying things that ask you to pay for the privilge of being an adult. You fill out a form that says you are an adult, pay a fee, get an id number and Voila! Instant Adulthood! How about instant rip-off! Do you have to be an adult to sign up with this service? Nope. All you need is a credit card...yours, mom's, dad's...think they care? Nope. Now..and this is the really nasty part...the sites that use this service can still say they are FREE....and yet...they now get a portion of any and all "adults" that sign up from their site! AVS...it should stand for Adult Victimization Service.
